Ohlone Skid Continues...
The Ohlone Renegades Men's Soccer team lost its fifth game in a row on Tuesday afternoon when it hosted perennial powerhouse West Valley.
The Renegades got off to a great start, taking the lead early in the game when Angel Vasquez scored from a direct set piece. They kept the score 1-0 for much of the first half, and it looked like they would head into the break in the lead. However, West Valley scored a controversial goal from a corner kick with just five minutes remaining in the half to tie the game 1-1. Ohlone found it difficult to rebound from the emotions of conceding the goal, and conceded a second mere minutes later. Instead of leading 1-0 at half, they were losing 2-1.
With all their hard work from the beginning of the game lost, the team couldn't find its footing in the second half. West Valley capitalized, adding four more goals to their tally and blowing the game wide open.
The loss marks Ohlone's fifth in a row, all to conference opponents—they drop to 0-5-0 in conference play and 7-5-1 overall.
Their next opponent will be Foothill on Tuesday, October 21.
