The Renegades opened up the 2019 season Wednesday traveling to Napa for the Napa Valley Classic Tournament set to face the Lassen Cougars and the host Napa Valley Storm. In the first match against Lassen College the Renegades' serving was the catalyst to their scoring, tallying 19 total service aces as a team and led by sophmore libero Elena Webster, sophomore outside hitter Kayla Valencia, and freshmen setter Savannah Rampola (5 service aces each). The offense would follow suit as the Renegades would total 30 kills led by freshmen middle blocker Katie King (8 kills, 0.583 hitting percentage). The Renegades would go on the win the match in straight sets (25-11, 25-12, 25-10). Immediately following the match versus Lassen was a faceoff between the Renegades and the host team of Napa Valley. A combination of missed serves by the Renegades and tough serves by the Storm had each team exchanging point for point to start the sets, but the Renegades defense would pick up where the offense let up, tallying a total of 5 blocks and 54 digs as a team. With sophomore libero Elena Webster leading the defense with 21 digs and freshmen outside hitter Clare Deal leading offense with 11 kills the Renegades would go on to sweep the storm with the scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-11. Ohlone College Volleyball will next be hitting the court on Friday, September 6 as they travel to Pleasant Hill for the Diablo Valley Classic Tournament to take on the College of Marin and the host squad Vikings of Diablo Valley College.
