Renegades Make It To States
Santa Rosa: The Ohlone swim team qualified for several events at the 2025 state championship hosted at Santa Rosa Junior College from May 1-3, 2025.
Thursday May 1st:
Ohlone Men's team placed 10th in the 200 free relay with a final time of 1:25.23. The relay started with Ryin Ruaboro with a split of 21.00, followed by Ray Cillo with a split of 20.80, followed by Alex Torjyan 21.89 and was anchored by Moataz Bayoumi with a split of 21.54.
Ryin Ruaboro made the final heat, placing seventh in the 50 free with a prelim time of 20.90 and a final time of 21.01.
Ohlone Men's team placed sixth in the 400 medley relay with a final time of 3:29.47. The relay started with Ryin Ruaboro swimming backstroke with a split of 50.98, followed by Ray Cillo swimming breaststroke with a split of 57.03, followed by Moataz Bayoumi swimming fly with a split of 51.33, anchored by Alex Torjyan swimming free with a split of 50.13.
At the end of Day 1, Ohlone ranked 10th in the mens ranking with 52 points.
Friday May 2nd:
Ohlone Men's team placed seventh in the 200 medley relay with a final time of 1:33.41. The relay started with Ryin Ruaboro swimming backstroke with a split of 23.35, followed by Ray Cillo swimming breaststroke with a split of 24.88, followed by Moataz Bayoumi 23.27 anchored by Alex Torjyan swimming free with a split of 21.91.
Ray Cillo made the consolation final for 100 breast, placing 10th with a prelim time of 57.51 and a final time of 57.12.
Ryin Ruaboro placed 5th in the 100 back with a prelim time of 51.22 and a final time of 50.77.
Ohlone Men's team placed 15th in the 800 free relay with a final time of 7:57.88. The first leg was Moataz Bayoumi, who split 1:53.26 followed by the second leg, Arjan Behrooz, who split 2:00.07. The third leg was swam by Denton Phillips who split 1:59.14. The relay was anchored by Kato Tien who split 2:05.41.
At the end of Day 2, Ohlone still ranked 10th in the men's team ranking with 101 points
Saturday May 3rd:
Ryin Ruaboro made the finals heat and placed fith in the 100 freestyle with a prelim time of 45.92 and a finals time of 45.71.
Ray Cillo made the finals heat and placed sixth in the 100 IM with a prelim time of 52.93 and a final time of 52.39.
Ohlone Men placed 14th in the 400 free relay with a final time of 3:12.13. The first leg was Ryin Ruaboro who split 46.63, followed by Ray Cillo who split 46.70, the third leg was swam by Alex Torjyan who split 49.52 and anchored by Moataz Bayoumi who split 49.28.
Overall Ohlone ranked 10th among the men's team and 20th in combined team scores with 134 points.
